What are the Legal Consequences of Falsifying a Resume?

If you falsify your resume it is grounds to fire you if the employer finds out. Most employers will not hesitate to fire someone who has lied on their resume or job application. This can sometimes haunt you years later. I have had a number of clients who had good valuable wrongful termination claims wipedout by a falsification or lie on a resume or job application.

Also if the employer is a governmental agency there may be criminal liability for supplying false information to a governmental agency.

It is always better to tell the truth on resumes and job applications.
