Legal Question in Employment Law in Arkansas

Retaliation Question

What would you consider retaliation in regards to employment law in Arkansas? I recently emailed my corporate office for help on an issue with my manager and I was demoted and then fired. Can they legally do this? Thanks in advance for any response.

Re: Retaliation Question

The answer to your question depends first of all on what you complained about. If you complained about a hostile work environment arising from your status in a protected class, such as age, race, gender, religion, etc...or you complained about some sort of discrimination based on the same criteria, then you may have a retailiation claim.

Second, what was the reason they gave to justify firing you? If it was a vaild reason or it was not connected to the complaint (and a jury would believe their story) then you will not have a claim for retailation.
