Legal Question in Employment Law in Arkansas

terminated and evicted

My husband and i ran a furniture store together. We left for a weekend and the bosses found missing tickets and assumed that we stole the money. We were terminated and charged with theft of property. They were also our landlords ao we were evicted and they also refused my husband his wages and bonus check that he recieved but not yet cashed. 4 checks total between the two of us. I know nothing can be done for the eviction and termination but can i go after them in a federal court for the wages and how can i get the money we are owed quickly?

Re: terminated and evicted

As an employee you have the right to be paid for the time that you work. Your employer generally cannot completely withhold your wages. However, there is also usually no quick way to resolve this issue if the employer is unwilling to pay you your wages.

You have multiple options. First, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor. Second, you can hire an attorney to contact your former employer and attempt to obtain your wages. Finally, you can contact your employer yourself in an effort to recover your lost wages.

Each of these options has advantages and disadvantages. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, you can contact me at [email protected].
