Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Arkansas

Medical Mistakes

I am doing a research paper for my english class. My question is ''how many mistakes is a doctor allowed before they lose their license (no matter if the mistake is fatal or not)? I also have another question, ''Do the people have a right to know about the doctors that make the mistakes, or should public access to the information be denied? Thank you very much for your help.

Re: Medical Mistakes

State licensing boards look at a physician's competence. If a physician displays a pattern of incompetence a board can take away a license, but this only occurs after a long history, and usually after many of the physician's peers complain about him. There is not a set number of mistakes a doctor must make to get there.

A doctor can also lose his or her license for failure to maintain certain state or federal standards. Look at your state's licensing laws for more inforamtion.
