Rephrase Arkansas Army National Guard dropout question

My son signed up for the guard. He went to drill. He got paychecks. He has not left for basic and wants to back out - having received paychecks. I do not support this decision. He has run off to his dad's house who DOES support his decision. Can he just get out?

OK, this is a little clearer.

The way the Guard deals with these situations is somewhat different to the active duty.

If you can contact me on my email, we can discuss (no charge).
