Legal Question in Traffic Law in Arkansas
Back in September I was pulled over for a stop sign violation. I honestly believed I stopped at the sign, but I had just pulled a double at work and was exhausted. I have never been pulled over before and have a clean record.
I went to typical traffic court and pleaded not guilty and was set a trial date.
Now I'm being told that I'm going to be responsible for all these court fees and such. I'm on a very low budget so I'm kind of freaking out. I know the ticket itself was $140. Im at the point now where I wish I wouldve just paid it to avoid all the stress and possible more money I'm causing myself here.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? Do you know what typical fees are? Do you have to pay lump sums or can you make payment arrangements? Thank you for any and all help you can provide!
Also, is there any way I can just go ahead and pay and have the trial cancelled legally? I tried talking to one of the people working down there and she just said "no. probably not." and I couldnt ever get a for sure answer on whether thats possible or not.

You may be assessed court costs which are usually less than $100 for misdemeanor offenses. You should ask the prosecutor about just paying the fine and avoiding court.
