Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arkansas

I was appointed the administrator for our mother's estate by the judge in December 2022. I hired a lawyer in Arkansas because I live in a different state. The lawyer that I hired quit midstream in May 2023 taking with him a large amount of money from our mother's estate. He did not offer a substitute attorney. He did not complete the job. I had to petition my former attorney back to court in August 2023 to make him put our mother's money into the clerk registry.

I had to make a motion to the judge to appoint us an attorney per the judge's request. The judge did not like the wording on the motion. He said he could not appoint me a court appointed lawyer but will appoint a licensed attorney to administer the estate. That was 2 weeks ago. There is no new attorney. Nothing has been done. What did the judge mean by this? How do we find out if there is a special administrator on the case?

This is very unfortunate. I recommend that you call the clerk's office at the surrogate's court and ask what is happening.

Good luck.
