Death of an elderly parent

Is the oldest son responsible for any bills/debts that remain after the death of his parent? Even in the matter of his funeral bill?

Re: Death of an elderly parent

A child is not responsible for the funeral costs of an elderly parent unless he made himself liable (such as by agreeing to pay by signing the contract for the funeral home services, etc.).

Usually, family members all contribute to the costs of the funeral if there is not enough in the parent's estate to cover such costs.

Good luck to you.
