Probate Time Limits Is it Written in Stone 5 years

My stepfather died alittle over 5 years agao, when he first

died we took his will to attorney and he said we didnt have

to file unless we sold the family home, then if we decided

to sell family home that the will stated his kids and each

of us were to get equal shares in home. His Children waited

until 5 years and two days and now are saying will is no good

because of time limits. The attorney who we hire has since

been disbarred, My stepfather children want the house sold

even though my Mom still lives there. any ideas any help
