Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arkansas

Property

My grandmother died in 2005 and her sister was helping to care for her and they both lived next door to each other in Arkansas. Since my aunt name was also on her bank account she handled all her bills. After the death of my grandmother, my aunt paid the bills and kept the remaining money. She paid the property taxes from her money and now their isn't any more money she wants to claim the property for herself because she has been paying the taxes and has receipts showing she paid in her name. Question: Because my grandmother has been deceased almost 2 yrs now, and if I start as of this yr 2007 paying the property taxes will that stop her from claiming rights to her property. My grandmother didn't leave a will. My siblings and I are the grandchildren. We can't afford to hire an attorney, we reside in Tennessee. Does she, my aunt have legal rights to the property?

Re: Property

This would be governed by Arkansas state law. The laws of intestacy would apply but you would need to check with an Arkansas attorney.
