Legal Question in Technology Law in Australia
Removal of unwanted programs
I have had a search program self install itself on my PC during a MP3 download and wish to have it removed. The software cannot be removed by conventional methods and returns constantly even after settings are changed. I have contacted the other party via email 3 times asking for assistance but have recieved no reply. How can I force them to remove or offer assistance to remove this software.

Re: Removal of unwanted programs
Where is the other party (I presume you mean the author of the software) located? You may have a complaint under the Privacy Act if they are also Australian and if the program is sending back information about you without your agreement. If they are not Australian it becomes more tricky.
