Re: The law of Torts

tort law relates to the area of civil wrongs.

examples include negligence causing personal injuries - arising from work or motor accidents or negligence causing property damage - usually motor vehicle accidents; defamation (slander and libel); trespass to person (assault); trespass to property; injurious falsehood; and so the list goes......

the major difference between torts and crime is that criminal actions are usually prosecuted by the State which must prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Tort actions are usually taken privately and the plaintiff must prove its case on the balance of probabilities.
