australian intervention orders

i am currently living in the usa have just moved there my ex wife has taken a intervention order out on me i believe, on what grounds i do not not know can they do this without my knowledge and what can i do

it would be very unusual for any form of intervention or domestic violence protection order to be made agaisnt you without the court being satisfied that you have knowledge of the application before hand. you could start by ringing the police and the magistrates or local court in your home state and asking them if there is any record of an application for an intervention order naming you. they should be able to tell you. if there is one you need some advice on how to reopen the matter if you wish to contest it.
