damages claim

would I have a case against my x defacto's employer for damages due to him having taken a project interstae which was the direct cause for him to have an affair and leave. he was a know alcoholic and on medication for depression by his direct boss who requested when the position was made available that he be sent home for one week of every month due to these concerns and the upper management did not enforce this request and also provided a company credit card available for alcohol which was not monitored. my defacto I believe has had some sort of breakdown this i have raised with the employer and no investigation or contact with me has been made.we have four children of which three are dependants we have been together 16 years

What you are asking about is in effect a personal injuries claim. You would have to prove that the employer owed you a duty of care and that he breached it. I very much doubt that you would be successful. However, I do divorces and not personal injuries claims, so it wouldnt hurt to ask someone who does those sort of claims and see what they say.
