Legal Question in Family Law in Australia

How do I invoke divorce proceedings in Australia from the United States?

I am currently married to an Australian citizen, we were married in Australia. We have lived apart for 1.5 years now. I live in the US, she resides in Australia. She refuses to a divorce! I would like to gain information on how to proceed with a ''confidentail'' divorce.

There is no problem with filing for divorce here in California. You do not need her permission.

If you have been a residence of California for the last six months then you may file for divorce in California, however we will need to have her properly served so the California court has jurisdiction over the divorce case. I do not know what you mean by "confidential" since all pleadings filed with the court will be public records. If you need assistance you may contact me at 310-839-7700.
