Legal Question in Family Law in Australia
Parental rights
I am writing as a concerned older
sister. Very concerned.
I have a brother and sister, who are
five and a half years old. They are
twins. We do not share the same
Father. My Mother divorced him not
long after their birth as he started
showing signs as being sociopathic
and other concerning behaviours.
The children
have been seeing him at a
supervised visitation
centre for the past 6 or so months.
Last weekend was the first time they
had stayed at his house for a
weekend in nearly a year. When
they arrived home my brother, who
had beautiful thick hair and always
had it a little too long than a little too
short, if anything, now had a
completely SHAVED head. At five
years old He has NEVER suggested
he has wanted this, doesnt have
friends with shaved heads and my
Mother and myself would NEVER do
that to him. It does not suit him and
the bottom line is it clearly IS NOT in
the best interest of the child. My
question is: Where does my Mother
stand on this? Is he just allowed to
shave his head? Shave my sisters
head?! And my Mother has no
power, no control over it? Or is their
something she can do?

Re: Parental rights
A parent should not take it upon himself to just shave a childs head on a visit. However to do something about it, your mother will have to take the matter back to Court and seek an order that he be restrained from such things without her prior permission.
