Legal Question in Family Law in Australia

I would like to know where i stand my husband and i are separated he has promised to buy me another property when this property is sold, so i will be dept free, i,m not sure what to do can he do that by a promise or will it have to be done legally.He went off with someone else and she is pregnant can she get any of my house and property. The house is in both names the bank account is in both names but the super is in my name. Thanks

A simple promise is probably unenforceable legally.

To achieve this aim, and to protect your entitlement to matrimonial assets from your spouse's new partner, you need a financial separation through the Family Court - ideally by Consent Orders (negotiated out of Court if possible).
