Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Australia
I run a volunteer group, we often record and video on our outings, recently one of my members "moved on", i am wondering who retains the legal rights to the video and footage - he owns the tapes, but the footage was recorded whilst working within the volunteer team.....does the volunteer entity own the legal copyright as it was filmed on offical business, or does the person who video's the footage own the video?

We recommend that you avoid the legal analysis and potential problems by asking the member to assign whatever rights they have to the organisation.
