Re: copyright protection of an advertising slogan

Company names are registered locally by local governments where you will conduct business. Company names are sometimes used as trademarks and in that sense, they can be registered in each country in which your goods/services are sold. You may engage a local Indian trademark counsel to manage the registration process in each country. Slogans are usually NOT deemed "works of authorship" so they are usually not eligible for copyright registration, but are treated as trademarks. In this regard, please see my previous comments.

If you would like a referral to Indian trademark counsel, please let me know.

Re: copyright protection of an advertising slogan

A copyright vests into the person creating such slogan, etc. However, to enforce it properly, it will often be necessary to formally register it.

For this, yYou will have to sit down, identify your markets as well as markets from where you would expect competition and/or plagiarism and then instruct someone to go and register your trademarks, design, etc. in the relevant jurisdictions. In the European Union, there is a community trademark that covers all territories.

Please advise if you require further assistance.

Kind regards,
