Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Australia

E-mails

I am a US citizen currently in the USA for work. My partner (not married) is an australian citizen living and working in australia. We are suppose to be filing for a partner visa so I can return ASAP to give birth in australia. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and up until yesterday, he had always shared with me that he loves me, 100% committed, and that i was his life. I recently joined MySpace to which I have a met a few women who shared that he has solicited for more than friendship. Recently, I e-mailed a woman to inquire about her interest in my partner. I shared that I was pregnant, coming back on partner visa, and would appreciate her being honest with me. She didn't respond to me but she forwarded the message to my partner. He e-mailed me stating that it was harrassment in sending this initial e-mail to her and a form of stalking to him. Is that true? It was my first contact with this woman and I wanted her honest reply so I can make a decision about my life and my baby's.

Re: E-mails

No, it's not true from a legal standpoint at least. There is nothing wrong legally with what you did. Obviously he has been embarrassed by it, but that is his problem not yours. Harrassment and intimidation are against the law and a restraining order can be obtained to prevent people from doing those things, but your intention was clearly not either to harrass or to intimidate him.
