Legal Question in Family Law in Bangladesh
I am 33, married for a year to an alcoholic husband who also has a long history of drug abuse. He has been in and out of rehab many times and is still not over his addiction. I have a four month old son now and living with my husband's family. Things are really not working out. My question is if i file for divorce, can i get my child's custody? My husband's family is politically influential but quite dysfunctional. Currently i am not financially independent. Please advise.

Under family law in Bangladesh a mother is entitled to get her sons custody till 7 years. however court may direct either party having custody of the son irrespective of age barrier considering his welfare. If you can ensure the welfare of your child in every respect, you may feel confident in holding his custody.
According to Family Laws of Bangladesh, you can be the legal guardian of male child till 7 years. Besides that, Court can direct any party having custody of the child.
