drywall subcontractor
can i collect from the owner of the property work done by me as a subcontractor when the general contractor has not paid me and has filed for bankrupcy

You have mechanic's lien rights against the owner if you sent a timely 20 day/preliminary notice, and if the time to record the lien has not expired. You need to talk with a knowledgeabel construction attorney. The bankruptcy stops you from going against the contractor; it does not affect your rights against the owner.
