Legal Question in Tax Law in California

I owe over $20,000 to the IRS. I can not afford to pay this off and installment agreements would take years to pay off. Should I get an attorney?

Yes. You might consider an offer in compromise with the IRS. If you cannot afford to pay the IRS will put your financial information into a formula (the same formula it uses for every taxpayer) and decide what they are willing to accept to settle the matter.
