Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

not being paid for item I sold

I sold a scooter to a woman with

loopus, in december. My mom

arranged the sale, she knew this

woman from a restaurant she went

to every week. The woman agreed to

pay in full by february. It's may, and

I have not even received half of the

amount. She told my mom she has a

inoperable brain tumor, and 6

months to live. The restaurant she

works at, paid in full, for her to take a

great vacation. while she was gone,

the owner was told by the womans

siblings that she is a con artist and

does this every where she goes and

will not pay anyone back. The owner

told my mom about the situation,

and that she already stated she is

leaving the area. I want to retrieve

my scooter before it is lost for good. I

still have the pink slip in my

possession. I have a typed contract

that she signed. I know where she

lives, where the scooter is stored,

and have the manpower to retrieve

it. What are my legal options?

Re: not being paid for item I sold

Depending on the value of your scooter, you may want to file an action in Small Claims Court. Your local court will have forms and instructions to make it easy for you.
