Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Hi my sister is currently working a subway in which her boss owns three stores. Her time is split between the stores, but when she works more than 40 hours a week between the stores she does does not get paid over time. So my question is, is it legal for her boss to do this.

if the stores are owned and operated by the same person this is not legal

It depends. If he owns all three as a sole proprietor or through a single corporation or other form of business entity, I would say it is not legal. If they are run as three separate partnerships with different partners, or as three separate corporations, etc., it might be.
