Social Security Disability claim question:Sleep apnea?

My sister has sleep apnea so badly,she falls asleep,is exhausted all the time,cannot hold down a job,or work.She filed for Soc.Sec.Disability;her lawyer said,''Not much chance you can get it.''she is losing a little,but she has major thyroid problem,takes thyroid meds,it makes her fat,keeps her from losing weight.I say,the thyroid problem's so bad,it's worsenig the weight-problem(she says that's true)and no guarantee any diet can lose almost 80 lbs.,and keep it off.''She also has serious nuerological problems,(had a huge stroke a few months ago,)is on all kinds of meds,is very sick,and has several serious illnesses.what case do I have to use as a precedent,to prove my case in court,to soc. sec. disability,the fed.govt.,or judge,(if we appeal,)is there a case resembling this one?one I can use to prove mine? A precedent would help?a particular law?Good disability attorney?

Although there may be some legal issues that are involved that you are not recognizing (which may be why the lawyer told you your sister may not get her benefits), the factual issues you raise certainly look workable for a disability case. All the issues that your sister is suffering from are and have been, issues that have gotten people disability (assuming the facts meet the disability requirements). I would certainly ask for a second opinion from an attorney who specializes in Social Security disability.
