Re: Case status

Your question suggests that you are a party to a federal court case, and you don't have a lawyer. You need to refer to the federal rules and exchange discovery with the lawyer on the other side prior to the status conference. Or Get A Lawyer.

This is a California Civil Procedure question; I'm licensed in WA, so I can't help.

If you are representing yourself you are required to know the rules of civil procedure. Lawyers often have to cooperate to get something done - because the court demands it.

In WA, status conferences are set by the court when the parties are out of compliance with the case schedule. I don't know whether that is the same in CA or not.

This stuff is on line, but you are at a horrible disadvantage if you have not been to law school.

Re: Case status

If you are representing yourself, know that this is not a real complicated proceeding and can be done by phone.

The two sides are going to talk with one another, civilly, and put a report together to let the court know the status of the case.

Usually, one of the two sides ends up writing the report, and the other side reads it and approves it by signing off.

I do ADA law. Are you in WA or CA? There's an atty I can recommend in CA if you have a good case.
