Legal Question in Disability Law in California

Discrimination

I work for Employment and Human Services in Contra Costa County. I was out on SDI. A co-worker made statements to my supervisor and Division Manager that I was faking my disability. Since returning to work from my being out on disability I've been treated differently by administration. I provided a Doctors note to reduce my work load by 25% and they have refused to accomodate me. They have accomodated other workers for the same request. Do I have a discrimination complaint? Do I have a slander complaint?

Re: Discrimination

Possibly. Employers have a duty to engage in an interactive process to inquire into the nature of your limitations and explore options that may reasonably accommodate those limitations. A flat refusal to even consider any accommodation could be a violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act.

Seek the advise of an employment law attorney in your county or make an appointment to meet with a representative of the Fair Employment and Housing Dept. nearest you, to file a complaint.
