Legal Question in Disability Law in California

Can I be fired for taking a legal medication?

The company I work for has a policy that if you are taking a medication, you must notify the company of such medication. I did notify the company that I was on medication, and I have proof of my prescription, but now after being drug tested, the company says I didn't notify them. The problem is that I have no proof that I told them, and they say they don't remember me telling them, so Iv'e been fired because they say they don't remember me telling them. Shouldn't there have been something in the contract that we have something in writing about our medication, instead of telling us to just notify them. Now it is there word against mine.

Unfortunately, verbal contracts or statements are very hard to prove. If it is your word against theirs, a jury would have to decide whothey wish to believe. Next time around, get itin writing.
