Terminated while off work from work related injury

On May 30,2001 I was terminated from my job of seven years. I had been home recieving treatment for a back injury that occured while at work on May 9,2001. I have hired a Workers Comp Attorney. Surgery is scheduled for next week. Can I be fired while off work due to a work related injury?

If your disability had anything to do with the decision to fire you, it is illegal. You should contact the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing and look into filing a complaint against the employer.
