Legal Question in Administrative Law in California
Faulty retirement board information
I beleived I took a deferred retirement from a government job, due to start receiving $ in 2009. The retirement board just notified me that I do not qualify in the vesting. I have an ambiguous letter from a manager at the board stating how much I would receive in 2009, and after numerous conversations with her I decided to leave this government job. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Faulty retirement board information
Essentially you can either appeal the decision that you are not vested, or you could apply to be reinstated. Stop having "conversations" and make sure everything you do is documented in writing. See a lawyer who handles the type of civil service law (federal or state) that applies to your position. You may only have a short time within which you must act.
