A grantor trust is a trust that us set up by and for the benefit of the grantor (the person setting it up), it is usually a living trust (inter-vivos revocable trust). No Social Security is required to set up and operate, though others may require a social. Not until one of the trustors die, and the trust is split, might a tax ID number be required.
