Different states have different requirements. All some want is for the lawyer to have attended an ABA-accredited school. Other states want the lawyer to take exams -- sometimes a full-blown bar exam, and others want only the multi-state exam. So, the best way to determine what needs to be done is to contact the bar association in the state to which the lawyer wishes to become licensed.
