Model Interrogatories -James Publishing Company
In an unlimited civil lawsuit, am I allowed to make my own form for interrogatoires and questions from Model Interrogatories -James Publishing Company?

Yes. They should be captioned, Specially Prepared Interrogatories. Refer to Rutter Group, Cal. Civil Procedure Before Trial, chapter 8.

I would add that you can ask any special interrogatories you want, but that you are limited to 35 in California unless you document the need for more. CCP 2024 et seq. provides the statutory law regarding discovey in civil actions.

The James Publishing works, of which I have a few in my library, but not the one you mention, sometimes are written for a multi-state audience. If so, the documents you will see might be designed to comply with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, or they might be designed without a particular court system in mind. If you are going to use model interrogatories, make sure they are acceptable under California state court rules. They may be - but don't assume it.
