Legal Question in Administrative Law in California
Non payment for work
My husband is a diesel mechanic. He received a check from a company for the work performed but it bounced. How do we get this money that is owed to us?

Go directly to the labor board and file a wage claim.

I would start with a certified demand letter requesting that the money be paid within X number of days. Under the Labor Code, they can be liable for your attorneys' fees for not paying wages due within a certain period of time. I'd have to look all this up, but there can be serious penalties for not paying wages due in a timely manner. Be aggressive.
