penalties for reporting a false crime?

a neighbor was an employee at a retail store in loss and prevention dept. not sure of exact details but he was terminated for calling in a crime that wasn't happening / said their was a gun and 6hrs later two boys were arrested/ later released. what is and or the pentalties for such a crime? Riverside Ca. 92503

Depends upon all the facts and upon the charges that may be filed. IF he is charged, which is probably not likely, then have him contact me to discuss the facts, and his rights and defenses.

I do not know what the criminal penalty is, but the two boys can sue him in civil court for causing their arrest. Your friend also will not be able to collect unemployment because it was an entirely justifiable termination.
