Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

compassionate medical release from prision

How do I file for a compassionate medical

release from a California State Prison. The

individual is seriously ill with advanced prostate

cancer...T3/T4. Who do I contact? The Governors'

office? If so, who do I contact in the Governors'

office? What forms are needed?

Thank you very much for your help.

Re: compassionate medical release from prision

Your question was just posted today. Better late than never. The non-profit Prison Law Office is definately the place to start. They ONLY function is to assist inmates in the CDC.

This non-profit organization has worked for prisoner's rights in California for many years and they know exactly who to contact and what actions to take since that's all they do.

They do not accept phone calls from non-lawyers. You must write to them and its best to have your brother write, even if you write the letter for him, mail it to him for him to sigh and then mail it to them, since attorneys are generally prohibited from contacting clients first, but must be contacted by the client/affected person and be asked for help.

Maria handles medical care issues.

My best advice to you is to write a letter giving ALL information, including your brother's address and inmate ID # to Maria at:
