Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

I live in Sonoma County.

I applied for both Social Security Disability and CalPERS disability retirement in 2007.

Last year, I was awarded full disability benefits from social security.

My application for CalPERS disability retirement was denied three weeks ago when the CalPERS Board of Administration denied my Request for Reconsideration of its denial of my application.

I understand now that I have completed the administrative process, my next step would be to file a Writ of Mandate.

Can anyone assist me with this procedure? Where do I file a Writ? Do you have any sample documents that relate to disability retirement/CalPERS that may assist me?

Thank you,

Lynda Jacobsen

You are really going to wager your possible lifetime entitlement to a CalPERS disability retirement on your ability to play amateur lawyer and file your own writ of mandate? You're only going to get one shot at it. Look harder for a lawyer. Times are hard. Lawyers are hungry. You can either afford a lawyer or you can afford to lose your case. One or the other.
