Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

I got a subpoena to be a witness I called the lawyer who sent it and she said she would call when I should show up. Should I go at the time on my subpoena or wait for her call?

It sounds like the lawyer is putting you "on call." That means that you should be available withing 30-60 minutes of being called by the lawyer. You don't need to sit around the courthouse waiting to testify.

I realize that this will be annoying for you in terms of your scheduling that day, but I agree with Ms. Gunther. Much depends on when the court will be ready to hear the case in question and when it will be ready to hear testimony.

Ms. Gunther and Mr. Perry are right. In case there is a misunderstanding later, you should get written confirmation from the lawyer, or at least write her to confirm what she told you. Do this by fax and/or email so you can prove what you said and when your message reached her office.
