Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

What does a writ on a judgement do

I have a 4 year old judgement that they are now trying to get a writ for. This was a car loan where they receive their property and still pursued a judgement for finance charges- I was not served directly they sent the paperwork to my grandmother house - What happens if I dont show up for court. I am currently not able to finacially pay this judgement. They have wrote it off on my credit report. Can they attach my wages?

Re: What does a writ on a judgement do

A writ on a judgment allows a judgment creditor to do many things, including bank accounty seizures and wage garnishments. Unless you take steps to set aside the judgment, the creditor can use whatever method it deems necessary to collect the judgment.

If you can't work out a payment arrangement, you might consider filing for bankruptcy. You should really contact a local attorney to see what all of your options are.
