Legal Question in Banking Law in California
Bill collector withdrew money from checking account
I told a bill collector they could take
$700 from my bank account on the
17th of the month (after my next
check). They took the money out
on the 7th, making my rent check
bounce and leaving me $700 short
for my rent. I called the bill
collector and they refused to
return the money. I cannot pay my
rent now until the 16th and face
possible eviction (this is in
California btw). Do I have any legal
options with the bill company or my
landlord?

Re: Bill collector withdrew money from checking account
This is an expensive lesson on why you should never ever give your bank account information to a CA. You need to get a new bank account.
Since, I assume, you didn't get it in writing about the 17th, you don't have a lawsuit.
