Legal Question in Banking Law in California
bounced check law
I'd like to know the law for bounced checks please, the number and how it reads.
Also, what do I do about collecting on a bounced check after I've represented it 3 times already???
Thanks a bunch, Stephanie

Re: bounced check law
You are referring to Civil Code Section 1719. If you follow the steps outlined in that code section, you can sue for the face value of the check plus treble damages up of $1500. If the amount is less than $7500, then you can proceed in small claims court.
