Legal Question in Banking Law in California
Checks, Money
Someone wrote me a check for 66.00. In the box they wrote 66.00 and in the description line they wrote sixty six thousand dollars and 00/100. can I keep this? what is the legal ammt for the check? And how would I get to keep it? I tried to put it in the night drop and the bank is making me pick it back up because of the discrepancy.

It doesn't really matter if your bank won't let you deposit the check. In any event, you cannot legally or morally cash a check for more than what the maker of the check intended for you to receive.
You should simply contact the person who wrote the check and ask them to replace it.
