Legal Question in Banking Law in California
I am presently on disability and have a credit card that is in default with the same instution that my checking account is in. Is it legal for the bank to remove the full balance of the credit card from my checking account without any notification?

Yes. However, the bank must send you a notice after the fact, by which you can claim an exemption because the account only contained disability money. It might take several weeks to resolve, however. You might want to change banks if there's any balance still owed on the credit card.
