Legal Question in Banking Law in California
I referred my friend to a local Direct Lender to apply for a Payday Advance and when they asked who referred him he gave them my name so I would get the $25 referral bonus on my account and he received $10. The teller told him I would not get the referral because my account was outstanding. Teller went to get her Supervisor who eventually approved the bonus to my account. I could care less about the referral $money. I am humiliated that they told my friend I had outstanding debt. What right did they have to share details regarding my account with my friend? Please advise, thank you.

You have no legal right of privacy in the fact that you have outstanding debt.
