Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I have about 15k of credit card debt from 3 different US card companies that I have stopped paying about a year ago. I dont live in the United States anymore , the companies called my parent but as soon as she told them I as out of the country they stopped calling. I do own some foreign property (raw Land) but not much else worth of value. Am I judgment proof?? What if I return to America in the future will this come back to haunt me? I do not really have the ways or means to pay off the debt now or to file for bankcruptcy. I am Sure my credit is bad now, but it doesnt matter since I am out of the country. perhaps the best thing to do is nothing?? and worry about this when I return to the states? or??

Sincerely,

Jesse

Hello Jesse:

You are certainly not judgment proof and they can most certainly get a judgment and try to collect against you. You should declare bankruptcy assuming they are dischargeable debts.
