Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

341 meeting..panicking over one creditor

Who will be at this meeting? One of my creditors filed a lawsuit against me ($7999.00) I panicked and made payment arrangements to stop the law suit. Come to find out when the law firm sent the bill it was $10,555.00 (I guess the actual amount). Well I job I was counting on fell through and once again I am unemployed. So now I filed BK on ALL my creditors. These were all credit totaling $21,661.00.

I never made payments to this one which was due Sept. 15th. Will this creditor come to the meeting and try to protest it, since he's in Sacramento and I'm in Los Angeles?

The creditor probably won't bother, so long as you didn't fraudulently obtain the initial credit. Some individual creditors sometimes show up because they don't know better. Also, sometimes secured creditors -- such as Sears, Good Guys -- might just ask about the secured property. Don't lose sleep over the creditor's meeting. The questions usually are pretty routine.
