Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I went abroad for couple of years and in the mean while one of my bills went to collection. this was 4 yrs ago. Now I'm back and was wondering if it would help my credit score if I paid the amount after 4 years. It's only $95 but I heard that after 7 yrs it will be removed from my credit.
