when does the automatic stay expire in bankruptcy chapter 7?

Generally, upon discharge with certain exceptions. When the bankruptcy discharge is issued, a permanent injunction attaches, except for certain nondischargeable or reaffirmed debts, among other things.

Usually, about 3-1/2 months after the case was filed, unless the creditor files an earlier motion for relief from that stay.
