Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Bancruptcy in the military

I am in the Navy, and am considering bankruptcy. My debts are coming close to 20,000 at least. I am only E-3 And soon to be wed. I don't want my debt to affect my bride-to-be, nor do I think I can afford this anymore after my recent car accident, and I don't want to lose my clearance. What are the chances that I will lose my clearance?

In many cases, filing bankruptcy can actually help you keep your clearance. Excessive debt is often a security risk factor because you might be susceptible to a bribe. I've filed bankruptcy cases for numerous federal government employees and members of the military for the specific reason to protect their clearance.

It has been my experience that bankruptcy should not be a problem for anybody with a clearance of secret or lower. Top Secret is a whole different ball game.

I offer a 20% discount for active duty military. Please contact my office to discuss our requirements for a free consultation.
